I think this film is both beautiful and sad. Beautiful because it showed the power of hope, the solace of escapist fantasies and the yearning for every human to feel love and importance. Sad because life doesn't always work that way. As a kid life is simple and you have a lot of hopes and dreams. But as an adult you realize that there are a lot of factors out of your control, a lot of things within yourself that you have problems overcoming and overall not everyone unfortunately gets to live a good life. This is a hard, cold fact. Still, every human being has the ability to dream and wish for happiness. I just hope that even if as a fantasy, the janitor found some happiness because every human deserves that.

I had no idea what this movie was about besides having something to do with dementia, a fear of growing old. the girls jacket/outerwear changes color from a bright red & yellow to darker, more dull colors from the start of the movie to its end and the she isn't the main character as I thought she would be. Jake is the janitor and he's imagining what his life could have been like if he was this perfect guy (being smart, a painter, winning high accolades) and what he would have done if he actually spoke with this girl he saw at a bar once. Im guessing by the books ending and the fact that the final shot of the film shows it being morning and his car is still at the school he killed himself. The reason why every conversation was so weird is because of his social awkwardness.
